Ocmulgee Earthlodge Astronomical Alignments

I recently wrote an article about the astronomical alignments of the Earthlodge at the Ocmulgee Mounds site in Macon, Georgia. Unlike most structures with such alignments, the Ocmulgee Earthlodge is not aligned to the solstices or equinoxes. It aligns to the sunrise on October 22. Why? One thousand years ago when the Earthlodge was constructed the Taurid meteor shower peaked on October 22. (Today it peaks on Nov. 5th.) Why would the Native Americans want to align this structure with the peak of the Taurid meteor shower? Read my article “Archaeoastronomy of the Ocmulgee Earthlodge” at LostWorlds.org and find out.
